Who We Are:

The Trustees offers two unique summer camp options at its signature properties in Hingham, MA. Weir River Farmis a 75-acre working farm with fields and pastures surrounded by oak and red cedar woodlands and edged by the Weir River. World's End is a 400-acre peninsula with varied coastal, woodland, and salt marsh habitats complemented by rolling hills and panoramic water views. Our camps are inspired by these exceptionalproperties andbuildon The Trustees'expertise in nature conservation,historiclandscapes, regenerative agriculture, and coastal management.

Camps run for eight weeks, from June 24-August 16, and are designed for campers ages 5-11. At each location campers enjoy outdoor, place-based activities that align with The Trustees environmental education mission.

A Day in the Life:

The Director is responsible for the daily operations of Weir River Farm and World's End camps They report to the Senior Regional Engagement Manager, manage two Camp Directors and the part-time Camp Behavior Specialist, and work in collaboration with property staff, the Trustees Education and Engagement staff, and other Trustees departments as necessary.

This is a 13-week full-time position, June through August, Monday-Friday, 8AM-4PM.

Pay Range: $24-25/hour

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise and collaborate with camp staff including Camp Directors, Camp Behavior Specialist, Camp Educators, and Counselors in Training
  • Manage day-to-day camper and staff needs, including team-building, troubleshooting, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure camp licensure compliance, camp safety, and a quality camp experience
  • Support Camp Directors with parent communications as necessary
  • Fill in when Camp Directors are absent
  • Administer CampBrain database system: pulling reports, checking medical records, confirming payment, processing refunds, managing the waitlist, and printing/filing medical records
  • Oversee the camp budget and order supplies as necessary

Qualifications

Qualifications:

This role combines personnel management with administrative tasks and occasional on-the-ground camp support.
  • Experience leading a team of individuals and fostering a supportive environment for growthand communication
  • Acute sense of emotional intelligence as it relates to children and their families
  • Ability to learn CampBrain database and registration system
  • Strong organizational abilities with extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, be flexible, work both collaboratively and independently, and respond to unexpected events using sound judgement
  • Effective communicator; strong interpersonal skills: helpful, calm, friendly demeanor
Other Requirements:
  • Must have or be willing to obtain (training is available) Camp Director certificationfrom ACA or equivalent organization
  • A satisfactory criminal background check (CORI and SORI)
  • Must have or be willing to obtain (training is available) Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification
  • Able and willing to work across two sites both indoors and outside in all types of weather
  • Valid driver's license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as defined in the Trustees driving policy is required
  • Full-time availability for camp staff training week and all weeks of camp (June 10 - August 16)
  • Part-time availability in early June for training
