Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position will prepare financial statements, analyze financial data and provide strategic financial guidance to the management team.

Job Details:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets and profit and loss statements
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile and maintain the company's intercompany accounts, including intercompany billing and invoices with purchase order transactions
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to management, highlighting trends, variances and areas of improvement
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and record detailed general ledger journal entries
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by junior accounting staff
  • Ensure proper documentation and support for all financial transactions
  • Administer the company credit card program
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and implement improvements for increased accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist with the developing and documenting accounting policies and procedures
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Analyze financial data and trends, providing insights to management for business planning and growth opportunities
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring banking activities, preparing cash forecasts and initiating necessary actions to ensure liquidity
  • Coordinate with other departments to optimize cash management processes
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years related accounting experience
  • Professional certification such as CPA/CMA is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations and compliance requirements including technical accounting under GAAP
  • Experience working with NetSuite ERP is a plus
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, project management methodologies and construction-related regulations a plus
  • Strong Excel skills relative to data processing and analysis such as complex pivot tables, V/H/X LOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc. with more advanced skills such as macros, Power Query, etc. valued
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
