We invite you to bring your bright, innovative ideas to MassMutual as we continue to help millions of Americans rely on each other.Together, we are strongerWhat great looks like in this roleOur ideal Data Engineer is someone who is passionate about data.You enjoy building data projects from the ground up and are equally comfortable working with business partners to understand requirements as you are developing and delivering robust solutions that meet the highest standards.Learning new technologies and working in the cloud excite you.You are team oriented and a strong communicator.Objectives of the roleDesign, build and maintain complex ELT jobs that deliver business valueTranslate high-level business requirements into technical specsIngest data from disparate sources into the data lake and data warehouseCleanse and enrich data and apply adequate data quality controlsProvide insight and direction to guide the future development of MassMutual’s data platformDevelop re-usable tools to help streamline the delivery of new projectsCollaborate closely with other developers and provide mentorshipEvaluate and recommend tools, technologies, processes and reference architecturesWork in an Agile development environment, attending daily stand-up meetings and delivering incremental improvementsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related fieldData: 8+ years of experience with data analytics and warehousingSQL: Deep knowledge of SQL and query optimizationELT: Good understanding of ELT methodologies and toolsTroubleshooting: Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis to determine and remediate potential issuesCommunication: Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational and analytical skillsAble to work independently and to provide leadership to small teams of developersPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in computer science or engineeringor a related fieldCloud: Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g. AWS)Python: Hands on experience developing with PythonAdvanced Data Processing: Experience using data processing technologies such as Apache Spark or KafkaWorkflow: Good knowledge of orchestration and scheduling tools (e.g. Apache Airflow)Reporting: Experience with data reporting (e.g. Microstrategy, Tableau, Looker) and data cataloging tools (e.g. Alation)#LI-TM1MassMutual is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer Minority/Female/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Individual with Disability/Protected Veteran.
