**WHAT WE NEED:**

We are looking for an experienced experienced individual to lead our global environmental, health, safety and regulatory functions. By nature, this individual must be a strategic thinker who is able to influence and collaborate with others in a team environment.

Some responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

* Develop and implement a variety of proactive initiatives to drive all manufacturing sites and manage projects towards continuous improvements in EHS measurements including OHSA recordables, regulatory compliance and lost time injury cases.

* Ensure sound judgment is used to balance the reasonable needs of the business with regulatory requirements.

* Represent all U.S. operations at regulatory hearings, legal actions, and legislative meetings.

* Manage the maintenance of inventory of existing installations and their current status with regard to compliance with federal, state and local regulatory laws.

* Review construction plans to determine if pollution control considerations are adequate and provides technical supervision for construction and installation of pollution control equipment.

* Act as a liaison with outside associations concerned with pollution control and government personnel in regulatory agencies.

* Manage the Work Safely program by working with operating units on corrective actions to audit deficiencies.

* Administer environmental programs including Title V, and other air PTI/PTO documentation, SARA 312 and 313 reporting, RMP program management, SWPP, waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous), and other environmental programs as required.

* Inspect or tour all facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.

* Assist in implementation of tools (KPIs, reports) and techniques to assure ongoing regulatory compliance process improvements.

* Oversee management of consultants as necessary to acquire specific knowledge or regulatory information.

* Maintain current knowledge by monitoring the development of regulations around the world and manage impact on current and future product offering.

* Support product development and research by assuring product compliance to international, federal, state and local regulations.

* Provide project management to transfer technology as deemed necessary, ensuring that Smithers-Oasis' intellectual property is protected at all times.

* Conduct EHS training for employees, new hires, and contractors.

* Produce reports as required to update the status of projects or other pertinent industrial information.

* Handle hazardous waste issues.

* Develop appropriate emergency action plans.

* Analyze plant accident, injury, and environmental data to identify trends.

* Accomplish other duties as assigned by management.

**WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR :**

* An individual with an advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline.

* An individual with at least five years of experience in product regulations who has knowledge of TSCA, CEPA, Hazard Communication Standard and other pertinent product regulations.

* An individual with at least five years of experience working in EH&S in a manufacturing work environment.

* An individual who is experienced in regional, global, and functional organizations.

* An individual who can execute strategic and tactical objectives provided by senior leaders.

* An individual who is able to effectively interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.

* An individual who has an appreciation for, and sensitivity to, cultural diversity within the company.

* An individual who is able to travel approximately 25% of the time within a year's time, both domestically and internationally.
