Job Duties
Serves as the Magisterial District Judge Administrator. Supervises the scheduling and operation of all MDJ offices within the district to ensure continuity of services, charges, and case disposal. Coordinates all MDJ audits and disposal logs. Plans MDJ’s annual continuing education courses.
Coordinates, schedules, and manages civil trial case flow through case disposition.
Supervises and schedules all matters in License Suspension Appeals, Summary Criminal Appeals, and Protection From Abuse cases that will appear before the Judge.
Oversees the court recorder’s office, including the transcript request process, collection and release of transcripts, and the submission of the quarterly transcript report to AOPC.
Coordinates and oversees human resources activities (including recruiting, hiring, and discipline) for court employees. Supervises and manages staff employees.
Schedules criminal, orphans court, and juvenile hearings as needed. Coordinates and prepares orders for court-appointed counsel for dependency/termination cases and prepares scheduling orders.
Communicates with attorneys, other courts, the public, and all personnel of other offices in person, by telephone, or by media.
Schedules non-judicial functions, i.e. depositions, arbitrations, pre-hearing conferences, after-hours meetings, etc.
Produces mediation conference orders, pre-hearing conference orders, and other orders as needed, files and distributes them.
Collects fees for mediations, divorce, and custody packets, and electronic monitoring and issues receipts.
Prepares and submits monthly statistical reports to AOPC.
Prepares briefing schedules for all filings requiring one.
Prepares annual court calendar, coordinating dates with Judge, PD, and DA. Updates information from county offices, Bar Association, and Commissioners’ office. Manages printing and distribution.
Manages county law library and publications for Judges, PD, DA, MDJs, and the public. Negotiate terms of contracts with Thomson Reuters.
Executes administrative decisions when the DCA is unavailable.
Organizes video conferences with PD/DA/Judges.
Coordinates revisions of the 54th Judicial District COOP Plan annually or as needed.
Serves as the primary contact for all matters related to threats and incident reporting for the Courts.
Coordinates with the Judicial Services Coordinator and other areas within judicial services to review and correct all monthly and annual AOPC statistical reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Judicial, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field, PLUS
One year of experience in court management or two years of varied office management work including experience in budgeting, procurement, and human resource management.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.
