Schedule: **Full-Time** Shift: **Varies** This position is at The Inn. 100 Harbor Drive, Saco, ME Looking for a team oriented Full Time 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM Self-starting, Cook/Cook Supervisor to lead a team of diet aides through our afternoon and evening meal shift. Meal service, preparation and cleaning and sanitizing to be performed following facility and department policies and procedures as well as State and Federal guidelines. This position includes alternating weekends of one full weekend on followed by one full weekend off. Must be able to work autonomously after training period ends. Great group of cooks currently employed with a combined 63 years of experience to assist and train the right candidate.
Minimum High School or equivalent education. Experience preferred but we will train the right candidate. Staff supervision on your shift is required.
**POSITION SUMMARY**
Prepare top quality food in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and with our established policies and procedures.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
* Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of cook.
* Prepare all food in accordance with established policies and procedures and assure all kitchen personnel comply with strict adherence to all sanitary procedures and regulations.
* Review menus prior to preparation to assure proper established recipes are present.
* Assure that food and supplies that support the next meal are readily available.
* Assist in serving meals as necessary, and on a timely basis.
* Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
* Inspect special diet trays to assure they are correct. Request nursing supervisory assistance is there is the slightest doubt regarding special diets.
* Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.
* Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure residents rights are protected.
* Coordinate dietary service with other departments, especially the nursing department, to ensure a smooth and efficient delivery system.
* Assist in inventory and storing of incoming food, supplies, etc.
* Assist in daily and scheduled cleaning duties.

* Maintain awareness of advances in Cooking and Dietary Services.
* Communicate effectively nursing staff
* Maintain skills in order to assist staff as necessary.
* Highly functioning reasoning skills, good judgment, and critical thinking skills.
* Communicate and participate as part of a high-functioning interdisciplinary team.
**SKILLS and ABILITIES**
* Education: Must have a High School diploma or GED.
* Experience: Two years related food service experience preferred
* Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantity.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
* Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such.
* Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, and family members.
* Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures, cooking characteristics, various cuts of meats, names and contents of dishes, etc.
* Able to follow oral and written instructions.
* Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition as well as the ability to communicate with residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
