Position:
AV Design Engineer
Objective:
Provide engineering and pre-sales expertise to Account Executives to help Verrex grow and further expand its business profitably.
Hours:
Monday Friday, 8:00 am 5:00 pm (1 hour lunch), Evenings and Weekends as needed

Compensation:

Exempt (Non-Hourly) and standard benefits package subject to company policy.

Overview

The successful candidate will combine AV engineering experience with strong client skills to provide pre-sale engineering support to in the US offices. This position is a key component to ensuring customer satisfaction, timely and accurate recommendations, and continued account growth through active management before, during, and after installation.

Responsibilities :

Attend client meetings, with or without the Account Executive, to conduct needs analysis and evaluation of new construction plans.
Must have the capability to comply with all safety rules and regulations required by clients for site visitation.
Determine the best AV solution for the client with guidance from the Account Executive.

Create customer proposals detailing a scope of work.
Develop a complete, accurate, and competitive bill of materials that provides all appropriate system functionality.
Estimate labor hours needed for each functional category within the project.
Serve as a quality checkpoint for proposal pricing.

Provide conceptual designs for audio, video, and control systems.
Identify equipment lead times or functionality issues and present solutions.
Participate in design reviews with sales, customers, and consultants.
Conduct equipment research on new and existing technology for client applications.
Review blueprints, plans, and other client documentation to develop and prepare cost estimates and/or projected increases in production from client use of proposed equipment or services.
Attend weekly sales meetings and weekly engineering meetings by way of audio or video conferences.

Qualifications:
Advanced to expert-level ability with design concepts and detailed drawings, including but not limited to cable risers, MEP drawings, control systems and interfaces, wall plates, panels, and system flows.
Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.
BSEE or equivalent preferred.
AutoCAD experience and proficiency.
2+ years experience in AV systems, design, and engineering.
CTS designation (CTS-D preferred).
Experience with creating and editing DSP files: Biamp and ClearOne, (certification preferred).
Working knowledge of Crestron, AMX, and Polycom.
