REPORTS TO: Director of Environmental Services
$1,000 sign on bonus
Job Summary: The primary purpose of your job description is to perform the day to day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Environmental Services Director, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
Qualifications: Must be able to work independently up to 100% of the time. Must be able to work weekend rotation and holidays. Must understand and practice Standard Precautions. The Housekeeping Aide is also required to have an ability to read, write and speak English, and complete and pass a state required background study form which checks for certain criminal convictions or serious/recurring maltreatment.
General Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective communication & cooperation with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that all services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
- Understand and perform job functions in relationship to environmental care.
- Maintain a clean environment for the resident. Follow proper infection control practices in all aspects of work.
- Recognize safety responsibilities of employee for the resident. Report occupational hazards and/or incidents of injury, to appropriate personnel, in accordance with facility policy and procedures.
- Recognize employee's responsibility for his / her own safety while on the job and for the safety of others. Recognize and remove environmental dangers.
- Complete maintenance service request slips for equipment in need of repairs. Include date, time and signature on your request.
- Apply principles of good body mechanics when lifting and moving objects.
- Use transfer techniques consistent with proper body mechanics.
- Use safety devices, when appropriate, and implement their use.
- Develop knowledge of actions to be implemented in emergency situations.
- Follow established policies governing the use labels and MSDS. Dispense chemicals as written and required.
- Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.
- Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
- Keep supervisor informed of supply needs.
- Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary or directed.
- Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of shift or when not in use.
- Perform day to day housekeeping functions as assigned.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Clean areas using proper cleaning/disinfecting procedures.
- Inform residents when it is necessary to move his or her personal possessions during cleaning procedures.
- Practice fire safety and accident prevention procedures.
- Maintain awareness and adhere to policy and procedures governing the operation of Minnewaska Community Health Services.
- Attend orientation and receive instruction regarding department duties.
- Attend general orientation and assigned in service education programs.
- Understand use of department procedure manual.
- Must understand and adhere to Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Policy.
- Must adhere to HIPPA privacy rules and regulations.
- Must uphold Residents Rights at all times.
- Demonstrate dependable professional work habits.
- Adhere to requirements set forth in personnel policy manual
- Other duties that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that our facility are maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
