Position Overview

The Onboarding Specialist develops, conducts, and supports training efforts for new employees. The position also supports training for existing staff to develop new skills or resolve deficiencies. The Onboarding Specialist is responsible for promoting employee engagement through various methodologies and in various formats, whether on the floor or in a classroom. The position promotes continuous improvement by creating training plans and conducting frequent trainings to achieve Quaker's training goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, conduct, and support New Employee Orientation Training and Onboarding related efforts.
  • Collaborate with production subject matter experts to develop and conduct cost effective, on-the-floor production-related training and support for employees.
  • Develop, conduct, and support Quaker University Program Training, focus on employee development.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain training records and ensure proper record-keeping for all applicable training efforts.
  • Onboard new trainees into the Quaker University programs: New Employee Orientation, Mentor Program, Assistant Lead and Team Lead 101 Programs.
  • Promote employee engagement through various methodologies and in various training formats, such as on the production floor, in the classroom and online.
  • Collaborate with production leadership, mentors, quality and safety personnel, and other subject matter experts as applicable to assess and improve employee performance.
  • Support instructional needs on Safety procedures, reinforcing safety policies and protocols to all production floor associates.
  • Coordinate with weekend, evening, and night shift production leadership on training efforts for those shifts to ensure effective training coverage.
  • Conduct and support new employee progress reports and performance evaluations as needed; provide training, coaching and/or mentoring to resolve deficiencies or enhance skills as needed.
  • Coach and support management in conducting and coordination of individual development plans that meet succession, retention, and carer progression needs.
  • Develop relationships with staff at all levels that foster trust and respect for organizational values.
  • Gather a comprehensive understanding of all Quaker production position duties, expectations, and workflow procedures.
  • Gather a general understanding of all Quaker products and the manufacturing components of those products including parts, hardware, machine operation, quality, and safety.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
  • Review and analyze New Employee Progress Report completion progress.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor training activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to eye and toe protection; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific and department-specific safety requirements during training and visits to the production floor.
