Our client is actively seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their land development practice based in Washington, District of Columbia.

In this senior role, you will play a pivotal part in mentoring and leading a team of engineers, contributing your wealth of experience to guide and inspire the next generation of professionals. Key Responsibilities Serve as lead designer for the development of design and technical documents through all phases of projects. Create site designs independently on various land development projects using mainly AutoCAD and Civil 3D software platforms. Complete detailed construction drawings and work with internal production staff to meet deadlines for site development projects that include site layout, site grading, site geometry, site utilities, and site storm drainage, for commercial, institutional, infrastructure, and transportation projects. Implement project-specific AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation CAD requirements, and coordinate production with other firms to ensure conformance with client standards Research applicable codes, entitlement processes, and permit requirements to ensure compliance Perform QA/QC of own work and the work of team members. Work with a project manager to maintain the project schedule to ensure deliverables are completed to ensure client expectations are met. Assist with the development of effective communication and coordination strategies on assigned projects between other project participants, including architects, engineers, developers, contractors, and clients. Assist in the training and development of junior staff members.

Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience within the land development/site civil engineering field. Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers in land development/site civil. A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In possession or pursuit of PE Experience in AutoCAD, or Civil 3D. Have a passion for collaboration throughout the design and execution of projects.
