SENIOR TAX MANAGER – CORE TAX GROUP

Generalist with Interest and Experience with Trusts, Estates, and Gifts

Rose, Snyder & Jacobs LLP is seeking an Senior Tax Manager with 5-10+ years of experience in public accounting. This position is in our Core Tax group. Our Core group handles a broad range of tax issues including work for individuals, partnerships, trusts, S-Corp, and C-Corp clients. For this position, we are seeking an expert in Trusts, Estates, and Gifts with keen business acumen. We are seeking candidates who are open to working from our beautiful Encino office for the first 2-4 months and then stay in office or transition to a hybrid work environment following this introductory period.

About You

You are a personable professional committed to a career in public accounting. You are a generalist and are familiar with broad range of tax issues, including the preparation and review of individual, trust, flow-through, multi-state, S-Corp, and possibly C-Corp returns, as well as an interest and experience preparing Estate and Gift returns. Your written and oral communication skills are first-rate, as is your attention to detail and ability to meet a deadline. You take pride in providing stellar customer service to your clients and collaborating with your colleagues. You are equally adept in following directions when needed and using your creativity to solve problems and think outside the box. You are often praised for your excellent judgement and curiosity – knowing when to take the initiative, when to ask for direction from partners, and a passion to dig deeper to find solutions. You have fierce organizational skills and a desire to take a leadership role within the firm. You have public accounting experience and enjoy working with a variety of clients. You have either your CPA or EA license.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, analyze, and review a variety of complex returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax codes, laws and regulations;
  • Manage engagements from inception through completion;
  • Maintain accurate and updated documentation of tax preparation work;
  • Stay up-to-date on tax codes, laws, and regulations and provide updates to associates on your team;
  • Supervise associates – reviewing quality and accuracy of their work and ensuring deadlines are met;
  • Keep stakeholders apprised on status of projects and deadlines;
  • Actively participate in client meetings and discussions;
  • Assist with responses to IRS and state tax notices;
  • Conduct research on tax matters and provide advice to clients; and
  • Participate in the growth of the firm by contributing to one of our committees

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 5-10 + years of public accounting firm experience
  • Management experience
  • CPA/EA License is required
  • Excellent Excel skills, including numerous linking and calculations
  • Experience with Trusts, Estates, and Gifts
  • Capable of reading partnership agreements and applying accurately
  • Adept at drafting clear, concise emails
  • Thorough documentation and referencing skills
  • Preparation of complicated flow-through returns
  • Involvement in drafting correspondence to IRS and state authorities is preferred
  • Ability to work overtime during busy season

Software

  • Knowledge of CCH Prosystems, CCH Axcess Tax, and CCH Engagement Trial Balance software and CCH XCM
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Salary Range: Starting at $140k+, plus bonus (commensurate with experience)

  • We want to make sure that you are well-supported and cared for during busy season. If you are working in our office, we provide meals.

Flexible Hours - We care about your work/life balance. Employees with a CPA or EA license may design their own hours during non-busy season (40 hours week required). This could be 8 hours/5 days, 10 hours/4 days or something similar. You must be available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Pacific Time (Noon – 5 p.m. ET).

Billable Hour Requirement: 1500 hours annually

Busy Season Hours: During the peak of busy season, the work requirement is 55 hours/week. During peaks weeks, more overtime may be required.

Where You’ll Work

This position can either be based on-site or hybrid (in office at least 3 days per week). During non-busy season, we bring in lunch twice a week. During busy season, lunch and dinner are provided daily.
