Job Summary:The Nursing Supervisor directs, administers, and supervises nursing and related activities of all licensed units to assure optimum care of all Residents.Duties and Responsibilities:Identifies and evaluates nursing service needsAnalyzes and coordinates interdepartmental needs of the Residents and nursing staffEvaluates emergencies and determines measures to be takenMakes rounds to each unit daily, and as necessary, to read log, receive report, and to assess unstable patientsKeeps Director of Nursing Services apprised of pertinent information. Makes report to oncoming supervisorConsults with family members as necessary to maintain good relationships and communicationAssists with orientation and staff education as neededSupervises the maintenance of accurate recordsEngages in studies related to improving Resident careEvaluates work performance and assists with preparation of progress reviewsSupervises and insures the proper and economical use of equipment and suppliesParticipates in staff meetings and supervisory staff meetingsInvestigates complaints. Keeps Director of Nursing Services apprised of current problemsAssists in preparation and development of new proceduresEvaluates assignments of staff to provide adequate coverage of facility at all times. Reallocates staff as necessaryDirects the adaptation of techniques for the resolution of unusual or complex nursing problemsServes as liaison for multidisciplinary team members. Confers with physicians and others, as necessary, to enhance the quality of careEvaluates Resident and staff safety measures.
