WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Manager, Application Engineering is responsible for managing a team of brilliant Application Engineers to build the award-winning products for the Patient Financial Care platform. This position will be leading a team which is responsible for architecting, developing and testing of full stack applications and data pipelines. Our Managers are willing to jump in and roll their sleeves up in order to get the job done and are certainly highly technical.

Personnel Management:

  • Manages all day-to-day activities of the application development team. Provide effective team management, leadership and mentoring.
  • Establishes training offerings, suited for individuals' needs, for them to progress
  • Conducts People Operations responsibilities for all assigned team members, including goal setting & performance evaluations.
  • Motivates and provides guidance to team members to accomplish team goals through counseling, performance reviews, mentoring, and team building activities
  • Serves as the player-coach within the team, helping them develop into more seasoned professionals
Technical Leadership:
  • Champions agile development processes within the team, leads agile development rituals.
  • Schedules projects and resources, and monitors project timelines; accountable for the success or failure of all team projects
  • Effectively communicates team and project updates to internal and external stakeholders. Proactively identifies project risks and takes steps to mitigate risks.
  • Works with Product management and other functional areas to identify priorities for Application Development and enhancements; acquires resources for projects to fit the current and future needs of the Business
  • Helps other Technology Managers set and implement policies and procedures related to application quality, standards, and testing
  • Architects and writes detailed requirements for engineering led initiatives.
  • Documents current and future project workflows using tools such as wikis, flowcharts and matrices.
  • Plays an integral part in establishing, driving, and enhancing processes and procedures within the team, and within the Technology department as a whole
  • Additional duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • 3+ years experience leading a software development team
  • 5+ years programming experience (c#, java, c, go, javascript, python, php)
  • Experience with Relational Databases (mysql, postgres, sql server)
  • Experience with cloud technologies (aws, gcloud, azure)
  • Experience with Version Control (git)
  • Experience with Unit and Integration Testing Methodologies
  • Experience building highly-scalable software solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & welcome change
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, PHP and Go
  • Experience with flat file data processing (parsing, validation, normalization)
  • Experience with cloud-based data tools (Airflow, Athena/S3, Glue, etc)
  • Experience with data analytics tools (snowflake, PowerBI)
  • Experience in Healthcare or Fintech industry
