Job Title: Survey Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and safety-conscious Survey Technician. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of traffic control and safety procedures for various surveying and construction operations. The role involves the care, cleaning, and use of a variety of surveying tools and equipment, including field radios. You will handle daily operations, checking, and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, total electronic stations, data collectors, levels, compasses, tribrachs, and tripods. You should also be familiar with basic survey principles such as leveling, traversing, triangulation, trilateration, public land surveys, metes and bounds surveys, construction surveys, and photo control surveys.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate field work for various standard types of surveys under the supervision of a Party Chief.
  • Keep neat and orderly field notes for standard surveying operations: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile, and cross-section surveys.
  • Handle the care, cleaning, and use of various surveying tools and equipment, including field radios.
  • Perform daily operations, checking, and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, total electronic stations, data collectors, levels, compasses, tribrachs, and tripods.
Essential Skills
  • 6 months of experience using robotic total stations and data collectors.
  • Attendance and punctuality on job sites.
  • Experience with as-built, transportation, and site surveys for wetlands and sitework.
  • Knowledge of GPS and topographic surveys.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Robotic Total Station setup.
  • Data Collection.
  • Comfortable working outside in different weather conditions.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be a reliable employee.
Work Environment

This is a 40-person company offering a family-oriented environment where employee success and growth are highly valued. Surveyors receive a company car for travel, or mileage reimbursement if using a personal vehicle. The company supports employees pursuing their surveying license by reimbursing for classes, testing fees, and yearly renewals. The surveying group includes 3 CAD drafters and 13 surveyors and is rapidly growing. The position requires comfort with travel throughout the state and working outdoors in various conditions. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with some flexibility.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
