Automated Systems, Inc. is actively seeking an Equipment Mechanical Design Engineer for one of our global pharmaceutical manufacturing clients located in Round Lake, IL. This role will be part of the Pharmaceutical Process Automation Group.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, constructing, and installing advanced automated machines and equipment used in the manufacturing of sterile liquids. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient, compliant production of high-quality pharmaceutical products, ultimately supporting the long-term safety of patients.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize mechanical designs for automated machines and equipment used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging processes, such as filling, sealing, labeling, and inspection.
Perform high-level engineering calculations for product design analysis, servo motor sizing, and production/process analysis.
Formulate and produce a complete mechanical design package, which includes detailed 3D SolidWorks files, bills of materials, and material requisitions, based on OEM standard specifications and the customers requirements.
Participate, refine, and complete designs after engineering and general design review meetings.
Release drawings, BOMs (Bills of Material) and required documents to processing to meet schedule requirements.
Interact with purchasing and vendors concerning parts.
Ensure that customer approval drawings are complete, checked, and submitted to meet the required schedule.
Work with other members of the Electrical/Controls Engineering Department and other groups to ensure that labor budgets and material budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
Specify all mechanical and produce requisitions for material purchases.
Verify that the mechanical design package is complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues that arise during the design, construction, or installation phases.
Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete, functional system.
Adhere to internal EHS regulations and industry-specific safety standards to maintain a safe and balanced workplace.
Education, Experience, Skill Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
3+ years of proven experience in designing and developing mechanical systems for automated equipment in the pharmaceutical or related industries.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and materials science.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong English communication and interpersonal skills.
