Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Float Pool ICU CCU Job Specialty: Float Pool ICU/CCU RN Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour night shift, zone 3, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: One year of experience preferred; nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty required License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC required Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Required- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required for certain locations Must-Have: - Minimum experience requirements: One year of experience preferred- EPIC experience- Effective communication skills in English: Speaking, Reading, Writing Job Description: - Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family.- Identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.- Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the nursing process, following patient care standards, guidelines, and the Nurse Practice Act.- Demonstrate personal accountability for delivering relationship-based care per organizational mission and values.- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.- Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.- Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, monitoring outcomes per nursing standards.- Demonstrate competence in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.- Advocate for and collaborate to protect patient health, safety, and rights.- Provide patient and family education, assessing learning readiness and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.- Recognize the patient as a full partner in care, respecting their preferences, values, and needs.- Deliver relationship-based care, honoring cultural differences and human diversity.- Delegate appropriately to non-RN personnel per state guidelines and hospital policy.- Utilize time, personnel, equipment, and supplies efficiently for high-quality, cost-effective care.- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical and professional nursing processes.- Manage resources and patient flow, matching nursing competencies to patient/unit needs.- Use standards of care, policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.- Function within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.- Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.- Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence.- Evaluate personal integrity and practice standards, striving to meet goals identified during evaluations.- Participate in hospital and unit-based meetings, understanding the value of measurement and continuous quality improvement.- Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities; use healthcare research to enhance skills and knowledge.
