MidMichigan Community Health Services is a federally qualified rural community health center (FQHC) based in Houghton Lake, Michigan. We provide primary and specialty health care for all, with a particular emphasis on access for the underserved.
We are headquartered in beautiful Houghton Lake, Michigan Northern Michigan has an abundance of year-round activities for all. Our community offers great fishing, beautiful parks and beaches and is home to the largest inland lake in Michigan Exploring Northern Michigan will provide the opportunity to explore wonderful parks, great public beaches which include swimming, playground equipment, barbecues and pavilions. From fishing to disc golf, our local parks are sure to provide fun for all. Additionally, the area provides plenty of hiking and nature trails, and over 200 miles of ORV trails.
Our organization was founded by concerned residents in the early 1970s to address the severe shortage of primary care in our area. We are still run by a local volunteer board of directors, helping to ensure that our services meet the community's needs.

SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Practice Manager, employee will be responsible for performing various clerical duties, assisting with scheduling and assisting with patient care when necessary. This position is an integral part of the patient care team and requires the ability to work effectively with Providers and ancillary staff to deliver high quality, compassionate patient care. Under direct supervision of the Practice Manager, will be responsible for assessment, care, and education of patients in the primary care setting. This position must have basic knowledge of primary care symptom management to be able to assess, plan, and deliver timely and appropriate care. May also perform general office duties (keyboarding, filing, telephone, computer and office equipment) as required by the practice. This is a contingent, casual position.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
- An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: (These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform).
- Greets patients and/or family, takes vital signs, obtains/reviews medical, social, surgical and medication history, and allergy information. Prepares patient for examination, performs procedures (in office labs: urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep screens; electrocardiogram (EKG's), tuberculosis (TB) testing, etc.) and reports results to providers. Communicates information regarding testing, procedures and follow up care to patient in a clear, concise and professional manner.
- Accurately documents all patient information in the electronic medical record according to current guidelines.
- Administers medications as prescribed by provider. Assists provider with examinations and procedures.
- Prepares and cleans the patient area, sets up equipment, cleans and facilitates room set up after a procedure. Disposes of contaminated supplies and sterilizes medical instruments.

This position requires sitting, bending, walking, lifting, and standing. Position requires adherence to strict time frames and deadlines at times without complete information regarding alternatives, legislative intent or regulatory issues.Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about the department. Overall vision is necessary; including reading, depth perception, close-up work and must have a peripheral field of vision. Hearing and speech on the phone as well as in person are necessary. Must be able to communicate verbally in person, on the phone and in writing. Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Must follow MidMichigan Community Health Services bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

All of the following functions, qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities (KSA's) and duties are essential. An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following:
- Skill in use of calculator, copy machine and computers.
- Ability to answer telephone calls and speak to patients pleasantly and courteously.
- Ability to deal with difficult situations positively.
- Ability to accept and perform other duties when needed.
- Basic knowledge of correct English usage, spelling and punctuation.
- Basic knowledge of modern office practices, materials and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of medical practice and examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
