Job Description:The C.N.A. student learns how to accurately and compassionately act as a clinical support partner to assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Caregivers in this role will become skilled at basic patient care skills including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient care skills. A student in good standing, upon completion of an approved CNA program has the opportunity to advance to a Patient Care Tech (PCT) or a Home Care Aide position at Intermountain. Students will be required to obtain C.N.A. certification within 150 days of being hired into the CNA Student role.The C.N.A. student will attend a one-week course through Intermountain's partner and complete clinical rotations required to sit for the exam.The C.N.A. Student works a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays and nights and in various facilities, as needed.This is a night shift position 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.For the program, you will completed 45 hours of online learning and 32 hours of in-person learning to obtain your CNA license in Colorado. We pay for your tuition, books and state testing fees. Once you obtain your CNA license, you will be hired into a Patient Care Tech position.You are hired at a flat rate of $18.29 an hour and will go to $20.00 an hour once moved to the Patient Care Tech position.Patient Care:The C.N.A. must be supervised during any clinicals prior to obtaining C.N.A. certificate.Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care which may include toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs.Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.Provides excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed.Based on unit, may also be responsible for telemetry duties.Can function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patient, taking care of patient care needs, and involving other members of the patient care team as needed.When working on a clinical unit, may be required to take medications from the delivery system to the RN.Collaboration:Collaborates and consults with RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team for best patient care.Demonstrates effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, and organization.Performs non-nursing duties as delegated (e.g., cleaning, stocking, answering phones, clerical support, providing directions).Implements plan of care as delegated.Performs assigned duties within Scope of Practice. Performs specialized procedures with skill validation and according to regulatory standards. Fosters a safe environment by complying with the safety policy and taking appropriate action in an emergency.Minimum QualificationsStrong written and verbal communication skills.Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers is required and while preferred upon hire, will be obtained as part of the CNA student program.Preferred QualificationsPrevious healthcare experiencePhysical Requirements:Location:Good Samaritan HospitalWork City:LafayetteWork State:ColoradoScheduled Weekly Hours:36The hourly range for this position is listed below.
