Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator (Entry Level Position)

Nonexempt, full-time position - Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

Position Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.

Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.

Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.

Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.

Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.

Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.

Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility.

Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.

Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.

Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.

Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.

Monitors compliance with safety procedures.

Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.

Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.

Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies preferred, not required.

Knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards preferred, not required.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to conduct training.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Ability to travel throughout facility to conduct safety inspections.

Ability to travel to other locations to conduct safety inspections.

Benefits
  • COMPANY-PAID BENEFITS: Eligible for benefit after 60 days of employment. $20,000 Basic Life and AD&D Insurance
  • BENEFITS: Eligible for the following after 60 days of employment - medical insurance, health savings account, dental insurance, vision insurance, basic life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability insurance, and Aflac supplemental policies (Group Hospital Enhancement, Critical Illness Insurance, & Accident Insurance).
  • PAID TIME OFF BENEFITS: After 90 days of employment, you are eligible for 32 hours of PTO. After 1 year, your PTO will increase to 40 hours.
  • COMPANY-PAID HOLIDAYS: Eligible for holiday pay after 90 days of employment. Company-paid holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
  • 401K PLAN: To enroll in the plan, employees must meet the following criteria: age 21 or older and complete 1 year of service. The plan provides an employer matching contribution of 100% of deferrals up to 3% of compensation plus 50% of deferrals on 3 to 5% of compensation.
