This position will be the primary product manager for the vehicle software quality product. They will work closely with the data engineering team, as well as numerous upstream GM teams, including VDF, T360, and Vehicle Engineering. This PM will consider other product development teams within Vehicle Telemetry Data and Engineering as its customers. The Vehicle Telematics Data Product Management team at General Motors is adding a Vehicle Quality Data Product Manager within its team. The data platform will manage a streaming data pipeline and associated data stores that is responsible for supplying telematics and other data to vehicle and quality Engineering teams within GM. The Vehicle Quality Data PM will be responsible for understanding data requirements from dependent teams, working with engineering to build robust and secure data assets, and communicating data quality metrics. We are looking for individuals with high attention to detail who can manage a disparate set of mostly internal customers that are building products for GM. Given the importance of data to the success of the software team and the technical nature of the product area, the ideal candidate has product management experience with data products and is familiar with common data processing and analytics technologies. A bias for action and a self-starter mindset are important in GM's Product Management environment. What You'll Do (Responsibilities) Define data products and delivery mechanisms Gather data needs and requirements from product and engineering teams Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's degree 5+ years of product management experience or relevant experience Experience working with data products or data infrastructure (streaming or analytics), preferably with knowledge of tools like Kafka, Azure Event Hubs and Databricks Familiarity with SQL or similar query languages, and willingness to learn others Strong collaboration as well as written, verbal and visual communication skills as many teams will be dependent on the data platform and you will be a primary resource for data-related questions Analytical mindset with a passion for data and its role in driving business value Appreciation for the importance of and challenges with data quality; the curiosity to interrogate data, propose and answer data questions and get to the bottom of results that don't make sense Experience working in an agile development environment with a bias for action, even in an ambiguous environment Can-do attitude to ensure we find a way to move forward despite challenges What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Experience working with data governance frameworks Experience with IoT/telematics data or the automotive industry Compensation The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area. The salary range for this role is $131,000 to $202,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
