Declassification Reviewer

Position Summary:
The Declassification Reviewer will be responsible for the preparation of Mandatory Declassification Review Cases (MDR's) and reviewing documents that contain classified information to identify all information that is classified, and the level of classification based on the classification guidance. You will view each record and determine potential declassification and ability to release. This process may include redacting, adding notes, lining through sections, making annotations, and preparing reviews etc.
Essential Duties:
- Gain intellectual and physical custodianship of records with permanent disposition.
- Select, appraise, arrange / describe permanent records through the established archival process.
- Appraise records using established schedules.
- Arrange records according to /adhering to principles of original order and provenance.
- House records in preservation quality folders and containers.
- Declassification/ transfer of documents to the National Archives and Records Administration.
- Locate and collect requested records (manual and electronic searches).
- Research and evaluate material, applying declassification guidelines and procedures.
- Prepare correspondence.
- Perform administrative duties: copying, searching and compiling responsive documentation.
- Possess technical knowledge of declassification procedures and processes.
- Provide advice and guidance for issues that require interpretation pertaining to declassification and MDRs.
- Research and prepare a variety of written materials and correspondence related to requests for declassification and MDRs.
- Active Top Secret SCI clearance with FS Polygraph
- Fort Meade
- Minimum High School Graduate
- 0-2 years performing the duties of the position: Level A
- 2-4 years performing the duties of the position: Level B
- 4+ years preforming the duties of the position: Level C
- Basic computer literacy
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as a team member
- Ability to read and assimilate information rapidly and use it to make timely and accurate decisions.
- Reliable and dependable
- Ability to work on a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing needs (within limitations) of the position
- Experience preparing Mandatory Declassification Review cases.
- Prior experience in one or more fields of document review, or declassification; meticulous preparation, proof reading, dissemination of documents, and/or operation of complex equipment.
