Under the assigned supervisor, the Crisis Specialist provides community based response, crisis intervention, case management, counseling, or mental health services to children and adults within agencies policies and program guidelines. The Crisis Specialist works to alleviate or stabilize mental health and behavioral health symptoms of referred clients, which impairs their ability to adjust to home, community integration, or maintain living stability. Position provides linkages to resources that will help client alleviate crisis. Crisis response services is provided to both adults and youth in the community. This position is full time.

$3,000 Sign On Bonus

Required Qualifications

Education

  • BS/BA Degree; BSW in human service-related preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years related experience in child welfare required
Other
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance required
Job Duties Include:
  • Daytime crisis intervention services, hours starting at 8am-5pm.
  • Crisis calls may extended past 5pm and staff are required to complete crisis until coverage from evening shift arrives
  • Some coverage of nights, weekends, and holidays, if schedule or staffing requires additional support
  • Conducts Crisis/Safety Assessment with an ETA of 90 minutes to respond in person.
  • Links clients to necessary resources i.e., health insurance, therapy, housing resources, medical treatment.
  • Provides in-home services to identify service needs, assess child and family safety, develops safety plans, and provide services to meet family and child needs.
  • Implements services under the guidelines of practice framework, known as ARC (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency)
  • Will provide follow up services after crisis response up to or extended past 90 days of crisis. These services could include: follow-up through completion of Mental Health Assessments, Treatment Plans, and other Case Management services.
  • Provides mental health stabilization and specific services according to funding source (such as a Medicaid) where applicable.
  • Completes required paperwork within established timelines and Medicaid compliant documentation
  • Will obtain and re certify for IM CANS assessment tool yearly
  • Handles aspects of intake and assessment as assigned per program need.
  • Provides transportation for clients within program guidelines.
  • Assists in the integration of all services provided for the client by serving as a central point of communications for service components during crisis
  • Represents the agency at court hearings as necessary
  • Maintains comprehensive client files
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

1. Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Suite environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary.
2. Highly organized, yet flexible, and can handle multiple priorities/projects well; ability to manage tight deadlines.
3. Ability to function well in a team environment.
4. Ability to demonstrate project management, analytical, and presentation skills.
5. Resourceful in researching issues and developing solutions with minimal supervision.
6. Excellent interpersonal and effective communications skills (verbal, written, active listening).

9. Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality
