SUMMARY

· This is a working position in a start-up environment and will allow the individual to build a team as the business needs arise.

· Responsible for purchasing and planning a variety of biomedical, research, production equipment and administrative materials, while monitoring the cost, schedule, and scope of the assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Select and manage outsourcing of systems and or subassemblies to contract manufacturing partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the essential duties required of the

Purchasing and Planning Manager.

· Create purchasing and planning processes and procedures to align with ISO 13485 and FDA standards for class II medical devices.

· Responsible for production planning and purchasing of required items.

· Manage stock and inventory planning including setting up safety stock and cycle count programs to ensure continuity of supply.

· Manage and maintain relationships with contract manufacturers and key partners.

· Create and negotiate service agreements with primary partners which may include service providers and contract manufacturers.

· Provide input and direction on selection and implementation of new ERP/MRP system.

· Process requisitions within assigned commodities and ensures they are complete and authorized.

· Diligently seeks alternate source of supply, substitutes materials or new methods to achieve maximum cost savings.

· Negotiates and bids all requirements possible.

· Handles all returns, receiving discrepancies, financial questions and any issue relating to orders placed.

· Develop and maintain supplier relationships to obtain satisfactory vendor performance.

· Monitors the cost, schedule, and performance aspects of vendor contracts.

· Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to meet departmental resource requirements and maintain inventories at required levels.

· Oversee programs for certifying vendors, inspection process and maintaining appropriate records for GMP and other applicable regulatory compliance.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY and or TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

· Includes team collaboration and direction.

· No direct reports at this time.

· Mapping out department needs to align with company growth strategy.

· Ability to grow a team based on business needs.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or equivalent.

· Minimum of 7 years purchasing and planning experience, preferably in biotech and or manufacturing environments.

· Prior experience managing purchasing, planning, and inventory personnel.

· Strong knowledge of contract manufacturing and outsourcing.

· Material Requirement Planning (MRP) background

· Experience implementing ERP systems is a plus.

· Computer knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word required.

· Highly skilled and experienced working with 3rd party software systems and data sets for targeting and market assessment from vendors. Experience should include, defining data assets needed, procurement though data vendor analysis, and dissemination to sales team.

· Strong analytical and financial acumen skills with high proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, is a must; should have the ability to assess and summarize large amounts of information and develop recommendations.

· Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.

· Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to engage and influence effectively with key stakeholders through strong presentation & effective interpersonal skills.
