Job Description

We are seeking a Cafe Server to join our Nutritional Services This position is Full-Time, scheduled 40 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. We're looking for compassionate, enthusiastic, and dependable candidates that are team players with a positive attitude. Must be available to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

In the heart of The Dalles, Oregon, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge has served the Columbia River Gorge community since 1901. We are comprised of a 49-bed hospital, various medical offices, home health, a birthing center and a vast scope of services located throughout The Dalles and the surrounding areas. The Dalles is known for its picturesque views of the Columbia River, local charm and delicious downtown restaurants and bakeries. There is something for everyone in this scenic community.

Job Summary:

The Cafe Server will greet guests, answer their questions, take orders, accept payments, and serve food and prepare beverages. They will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand their knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation as outlined in the Caf operations manual.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree in culinary arts or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • One-year previous experience in food and beverage service with an emphasis on guest engagement and experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Food Handler Card in state of employment: Required
  • Professional Food Manager (CPFM) or Multnomah County Food Handler (FH) or Food Safety Professionals (FSP) or ServSafe (SERVSAFE): Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • Driver's License (DL): Required
Essential Functions:
  • Prepares and sells food, coffee and other beverages by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques established by the Caf.
  • Welcomes guests and helps to determine their food and beverage interests and needs. Sells food, coffees and other beverages by explaining the daily offerings and finding out guests' needs. Dedicated to providing excellent guests service and improving the guest's experience.
  • Generates revenues by attracting new guests; defining new and expanded services and products. Educates guests by presenting and explaining the food, coffee and other beverage menu; answers questions.
  • Maintains FOH inventories as assigned by the Caf Manager to include; replenishing product supply, stocking orders received, taking inventory and maintaining tableware products and supplies.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. -Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
