Alphanumeric is seeking an Analyst Programmer - Applications Level 2 to work with our long-standing client of 20 years, a leader in medical and pharmaceutical advancements.
About the Role:
The Onyx Research Data Platform represents a significant investment in the company's R&D and Digital & Tech, aimed at transforming our ability to leverage data, knowledge, and predictive capabilities to discover new medicines.
As part of the Data Engineering team, you will design, deliver, support, and maintain industrialized, automated end-to-end data services and pipelines. Your responsibilities will include applying standardized data models and mappings to ensure data accessibility for end users through APIs, embedding best practices, ensuring compliance with Quality Management, and aligning with automated data governance. You will also handle the acquisition and processing of internal and external structured and unstructured data according to product requirements.
Responsibilities:
As a Data Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor, tasked with taking well-defined specifications for functions, pipelines, services, or components and delivering them at a high standard. You will adhere to best practices in software development and data engineering, including code quality, documentation, DevOps practices, and testing. You will also ensure the robustness of our services and act as an escalation point for operational issues in existing services, pipelines, and workflows.
Key Job Activities:
- Data Ingestion: Acquire external data using a Python API to collect and ingest content into the GCP data platform.
- Proficiency in a common data transformation programming language (API is developed in Python).
- Fundamental understanding of firewall and perimeter security.
- Source Curation: Enhance business data transformation logic to industrial pipeline orchestration with ingestion. Identify and handle new data that doesn't conform to existing mappings. Register successful data in the data governance platform and make it accessible to users and downstream processes. Generate reports on "failed" source data.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in a common data transformation programming language (business code will be in Python).
- Expertise in modular code design with failure-resilient program flow.
- Strong skills in quality reporting and notifications.
- Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
