Job Description

About the job

Timely and cost-effective coordination of activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, components, equipment, tools, parts and supplies necessary to support ongoing operations at both the fabrication and coatings and finishings facilities for the Logansport Plant.

Roles and responsibilities
  • Compose, analyze, issue, and maintain purchase orders, supplier schedules and contracts for all non-production products.
  • Ensure raw materials, components, supplies, and MRO items are available in a timely and cost-effective manner to support daily production requirements across all departments. This includes any expediting of materials.
  • Attend the daily production meetings and provide a status report on raw and component materials, follow up and communicate any changes in the Purchasing Manager's absences.
  • Use the A,B,C analysis to effectively manage and control inventory levels for all procured items directly within the control and responsibility for this function.
  • Ensure compliance with supply chain processes, procedures, and business controls.
  • Accurate reporting and tracking of expenditures and savings.
  • Update all changes in vendor price sheets and ensure accuracy of vendor pricing entered into the system.
  • Work with Purchasing Manager to resolve business system issues related to the Purchasing function.
  • Drive and support cost savings initiatives for assigned commodities and projects by coordinating efforts between plants and suppliers where necessary.
  • Responsible for monitoring, ordering, and maintaining the C&F Chemical spreadsheet. Analyzing the days on hand and making appropriate adjustments or recommendations.
  • Work with engineering, production control, and quality control on issues dealing with suppliers, part changes, new products, and quality.
  • Responsible for raw material inventory accuracy, COGI errors and is core member of the physical inventory team.
  • Liaison with accounts payable on receiving and invoicing issues.
  • Maintain all required Purchasing metrics with emphasis on Supplier scorecards.
  • Arrange for scrap disposal and track monthly scrap sales.
  • Prepare RFQ's for new and/or re-quoted parts.
  • Perform assigned Quality System functions as specified in ISO/TS procedures.
  • Observe established EHS regulations, guidelines, and practices.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
Education and experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience and/or training.
  • CPIM designation preferred.
  • Inventory management, supply-chain, and vendor management experience.
  • Inventory and project management experience.
  • Manufacturing experience in metals fabrication and finishing is an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of automotive industry standards and quality system requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office Applications and MRP.
