Patient Benefit Representative Join Maryland Oncology Hematology as a Patient Benefit Representative in Texas Oncology. This full?time position supports the Medical Oncology/Revenue Cycle at the 5858 West Main Street Suite 120 clinic in Frisco, Texas. Typical work week is Monday through Friday 8:00?a?5:00?p. The role may be level 1 or senior depending on candidate experience. Overview This role is part of the US Oncology Network. Texas Oncology delivers evidence?based oncology care to more than 530 providers in 280+ Texas sites. As a Patient Benefit Representative, you will educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, and financial assistance programs to ensure timely and accurate billing and reimbursement. Responsibilities Prior to treatment, obtain insurance coverage information, educate patients on coverage, benefits, co?pays, deductibles, and out?of?pocket expenses. Assess patients ability to meet expenses, discuss payment arrangements, and educate patients on financial assistance programs. Complete Patient Cost Estimate forms and appropriate reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature; forward forms to billing office. Obtain pre?authorization or referral approval codes prior to each treatment. Review patient account balance, notify front desk of patients, and ensure correct entry of patient co?pay amounts. At each visit, verify and update demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system according to SOPs. Maintain up?to?date financial aid resources, develop relationships with financial aid providers, and network for additional aid program leads. Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records. Maintain updated manuals, logs, forms, and documentation; perform additional duties as requested. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum three (3) years patient pre?services coordinator or equivalent experience required. Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required. Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application. Must communicate verbally clearly and utilize appropriate terminology. Must complete required e?learning courses within 90 days of occupying the position. Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferred for senior level. Minimum three (3) years pre?services coordinator experience and two (2) years patient benefits experience for senior level. Demonstrate knowledge and appropriate application of insurance coverage benefits and terminology. Competencies Use technical and functional expertise; access expert resources when appropriate. Physical Demands Employee must sit or stand, talk and hear, lift and carry patients and items up to 40?lb, maintain full range of body motion, and be present during scheduled business hours.
