POSITION TITLE: Finance Intern

DEPARTMENT: Finance

GRADE/FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

BADGE TYPE/COLOR: Key-Blue

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Development Program

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for completing an internship program with Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, increasing knowledge, and understanding of all facets of assigned department.

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Endorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision and Values
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests in the casino
  • Engage in hands-on training in a department
  • Understand department's primary function, each staff member's functions, and the inter-relations between each of the departments through various job shadowing opportunities
  • Acquire skills to be proficient in designated areas
  • Responsible for all funds entrusted during an assigned shift
  • Process cashiering transactions for guests including cashing checks, chip redemptions, markers and payments, credit card advances, bill breaking and other transactions.
  • Able to handle extremely large chip transactions accurately utilizing calculation tools to determine correct payout as well as correct payment to the guests
  • Ability to create and maintain customer RA (Resort Advantage) accounts and enter transactions into RA Floor Monitor, checking and entering all customer data needed to comply with government regulations
  • Able to complete all paperwork accurately
  • Count and Process chip transactions accurately, verifying play before payment to comply with Title 31 and Know Your Customer regulations
  • Process jackpot payouts, verify W2-G paperwork
  • Participate in all training opportunities as designed and designated by the department manager
  • Participate in and lead special projects as assigned
  • Cross train in department positions with emphasis on the supervisory role
  • Attend all assigned meetings
  • Submit a weekly report to Development Program Supervisor on performance and make recommendations on program
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university or a recent graduate of an accredited college/university (within 6 months) required
  • Official recommendation by university required
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher preferred
  • Working toward a degree in the area of interest for internship required
  • Successful in prescreening process required
  • Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter, must work without close supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
  • Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able to reach above and below shoulders with performing duties
  • Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including a calculator, computer, fax machine and photo copier
  • Must be able to lift and push/pull 25 pounds and carry 5 pounds
  • Must be able to use an earpiece/headset and other communication methods
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality including secondhand smoke
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays
