Hours: The Bookstore is open from 7:45 am-6:30pm. Shifts vary around that time frame as needed. This position would be Mon-Thurs 12:00pm-5pm and Fridays 10am-3pm. Occasional evening shifts may be needed for specialty events such as graduation.

Qualifications: High School diploma required. Previous retail or customer service experience required. Must be able to speak effectively with customers, apply concepts such as fractions, percentage ratios, process information/merchandise through computer system and POS register system, self-motivated, work with a minimum amount of supervision. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift at least 50 lbs. Enjoying people and being a team player are essential.

Job Summary: As a member of the Bookstore it is your unique position to support and serve all areas of Bridgerland Technical College (BTECH), including but not limited to administrators, department heads, instructors, students and vendors. You'll help us maintain organized inventory with accurate records through proper ordering, rotation, markdowns and auditing procedures. You must be open to suggestions and professional criticism. You will have the pleasure of collaborating with our amazing Bookstore personnel, department heads, faculty and other staff to coordinate multifaceted solutions to emerging problems. Regular one on one meetings with the Store Manager to discuss important operational information, upcoming changes and department specifics are necessary. We want you to take pride in ensuring your area of responsibility has proper signage and pricing. You will be a valued team member

Essential Duties:
  • Provide a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging everyone, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.
  • Stock shelves, counters, and tables with merchandise throughout your shift.
  • Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.
  • Answer questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
  • Oversee and authorize customer returns, exchanges, charges, employee sales, assure the completion of all POS transactions, proper control of cash and media at the POS register according to Bookstore policies and procedures.
  • Provide orderly maintenance of front-end supplies throughout your shift.
  • Accept payment and make change. Bag merchandise for customers.
  • Calculate sales discount, if applicable, to ensure POS accuracy.
  • Maintain inventory of stock.
  • Keep shelves clean and orderly.
  • Evaluate personal performance continuously to identify areas in need of improvement and implement strategies for continued personal success and growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
