MGB-12933 - Phlebotomy Supervisor- Salem, MA - 13 Weeks Contract Sigma Healthcare team is currently looking for a Phlebotomy Supervisor to work onsite at our client's facility.Shift: 07:30 - 16:00EMR: EPICSummary: Oversee all activities and supervise approximately 30 in-house Phlebotomy staff members. Work with off-site Phlebotomy Supervisor to ensure department is staffed and properly scheduled at all times. Help with payroll and corrective action of employees. Maintain established department policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Responsibilities: Oversees all activities and supervises Phlebotomy Staff. Prepares and performs employee annual appraisals on time. Manages corrective action plans for employees. Manages departmental purchasing and employee payroll. Assures that the Phlebotomy Department is properly scheduled and staffed at all times. Performs pediatric and adult phlebotomy on outpatients and/or inpatients venously or by heel and finger stick. Certifies that all phlebotomists are competent in all phlebotomy techniques including, if applicable, pediatric phlebotomy (venously by pediatric needle or butterfly method and micro collections by heel stick or finger stick). Coordinates and supervises the activities of new employees during their training period. Coordinates the overall daily department activities of the phlebotomy program at designated inpatient or outpatient sites for Salem Hospital Laboratory Services. Partners with the Phlebotomy Manager in the selection and hiring of new phlebotomy staff. Processes a variety of specimens in accordance with established protocol. Performs EKG procedures on outpatients and nursing home patients. Provides backup for all areas of responsibility. Performs other related duties as required or as responsibilities dictate. Demonstrates a working knowledge of the Laboratory Information System and other applications necessary to perform work assignments. Acts as a liaison between Salem Hospital Laboratory Services, physician office practices, and other laboratory clients. Maintains safety standards in accordance with hospital policies, federal regulation and accrediting agencies. Communicates with medical staff regarding problems, results and information concerning patients. Responsible for the accuracy and organization of department manuals and protocol books Responsible for ordering supplies when appropriate. Coordinates and collaborates with colleagues and staff in providing home draw and mobile phlebotomy services. Initiates and monitor all quality assurance activities and employee job performance competencies as it applies to phlebotomy. Reviews and maintain all department records and inform the Phlebotomy Manager of any deficiencies. Maintains and enforce established department policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Provides individualized instruction to employees when procedure or protocol changes. Keeps abreast of changes and industry best practices in the phlebotomy field. Must comply with the Partners' Vehicle fleet Safety Program guidelines and NSMC Policy for Drivers' Operating Vehicles for Hospital Business. Directly oversees phlebotomy staff and operations in area of responsibility ensuring professionalism and delivery of high quality laboratory services. 30-40 direct reports. Experience: Required: Requires 3-5 years of phlebotomy experience and demonstrated proficiency in the phlebotomy field Preferred: 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in pediatric phlebotomy, previous Phlebotomy Management or Clinical Laboratory Services Management.Education/Degree requirements: Required: Requires completion of High School or Equivalent and certificate of completion in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program or completion of a phlebotomy course as part of an associate or bachelor degree program.Licensure, Certifications, or Registration: Required: A Valid and Current Driver's License, clean driver's record per NSMC policy, which will be reviewed annually during employee's employment. Preferred: PBT (ASCP) certification or certification obtained within the first year of employment.
