Traveling RN/LPN - Mobile Unit GROW Employer: Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services Pay range: $22.00/hr - $40.00/hr Hours & Shift Requirements: Part time. 1st & 3rd Thursday and 2nd Tuesday of the month initial schedule with a goal of 4 days (Monday Thursday) weekly 8 am 5 pm. Job Title: Traveling Registered Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse Department: Traveling Mobile Unit / Gibson Recovery Optimizing Wellness, #10 Doctors Park, Gibson City, IL 60936 General Summary: Provide professional nursing care in a traveling mobile unit clinic setting. Perform administrative and clinical duties under supervision of medical provider(s). May also work in clinic office or hospital settings when mobile unit is stationary. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Check equipment at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure operational readiness. Clean and sanitize exam rooms, bathrooms, nursing station, and all mobile clinic areas using germicidal commercial grade solutions. Dry dust and wet mop all floored areas. Replenish supplies of hand soap, sanitizer, deodorizers, paper products. Vacuum all carpeted areas. Document cleaning chart each day; keep charts in binder for 3 years. Notify Manager of necessary repairs. Meet scheduled attendance and on?call requirements. Maintain confidentiality. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations. Ensure locks on cabinets, lab area, specimen storage, vaccination fridge/freezer are open at beginning and closed after operating hours. Greet patients and visitors courteously. Assess patient condition, take vital signs and weight. Assist providers with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments. Provide basic patient care as ordered. Record all activities and interventions in the electronic medical record. Assist patients with transfers, wheelchairs, undressing, specimen collection, etc. Interview patients for medical information. Identify learning needs and provide education materials. Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines. Use medical equipment (stethoscope, EKG machine, scales, BP cuff, speculums, etc.) properly. Refill prescriptions as guided by provider. Demonstrate applied knowledge of protocols, drugs, standards of care, and lab values. Maintain current competencies applicable to the job. Contact medical facilities to schedule tests or admissions; complete necessary forms. Schedule appointments, answer calls, triage, reply to electronic patient portal messages. Assist registrar with calls, scheduling, greeting patients, opening/closing unit following protocols. Check providers appointment schedules for patient flow. Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses after training and sign?off. Stock and check inventory; report items for reorder. Assist providers with examinations, treatments, instrument handling, and procedures. Confirm drug refills; provide prescription info to pharmacies; print/fax scripts. Review providers dash in EMR software. Obtain x?ray, ER, and hospital notes as needed. Complete various patient forms and requisitions. Set up lab equipment for blood draws and analysis. Retrieve soiled laundry, drop it off at GROW location. Perform venipunctures if certified. Clean instruments between visits. Collect specimens, log them, drop off before 4pm or at hospital after 4pm. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, provider instructions. Ensure supplies are dated and dispose of outdated items per waste protocols. Interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests within scope. Engage in research activities related to medical office and nursing. Follow through on delegated duties. Respect and promote patient rights. Respond to emergency codes immediately. Perform varied duties as assigned by physician/mid?level practitioner. Discard trash in designated receptacles using PPE. Remove filled biohazard bags and sharps containers for certified personnel. Check expiration of supplies and medications. Order medications and complete prior authorization forms. Act as liaison between patient and provider. Ensure laboratory logs are completed and kept securely. Physical Requirements Usual sitting, standing, stooping of office jobs. Use proper body mechanics for patient transfers, walking, dressing, lifting, bending, twisting, turning. Manual dexterity for computer, EKG machine, copy/fax machine, and other equipment. Basic prolonged standing during daily functions at nursing station. Frequent contact with staff and patients, may encounter angry or potentially violent people. Sharp auditory hearing for patient verbal communication. Visual acuity to see details within close range. Clear speech for instructions. Ability to recognize potential problems. Emotional stability when dealing with patients and families. Possibility of working beyond regular mobile unit hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and common medical conditions. Work in confined mobile unit space may cause stress and fatigue. Physical strength for lifting tasks: Floor to waist 40 pounds 14 to waist 50 pounds Waist to shoulder 20 pounds Shoulder to overhead 10 pounds Carry 40 pounds for 30 feet Push 40 pounds/force for 30 feet Pull 40 pounds/force for 10 feet Reporting Relationship Reports to Office Manager, Respective Physician, GAH Administration.
