Overview Join to apply for the Full-time Faculty - Medical Assistant role at City Colleges of Chicago. Malcolm X College is seeking a Full Time Faculty for the Medical Assistant Department. The mission of Malcolm X College is to provide accessible liberal arts and health-focused education that fosters personal and professional achievement. City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is the largest community college system in Illinois, comprising seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 65,000 students with access to quality, affordable education. The student is educated to become a holistic and professional person, evaluated on knowledge and specific skills, with a focus on pedagogy and technology within a community college environment. Reporting to an assigned Academic Dean, the Full-time Faculty position conducts formal classes and meets all lab objectives, when applicable, for assigned courses. Full-time faculty teach and evaluate students, prepare and revise course syllabi and other educational materials, and contribute to the overall operation of the College in support of CCCs mission. Essential Duties Prepares syllabi that include student learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Teaches on-campus classes in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of the college. Demonstrates excellence in teaching and a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process. Demonstrates the ability to engage, inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed. Develops reciprocity and cooperation among students; encourages active learning. Employs a variety of teaching methods (lectures, discussions, demonstrations, projects, etc.) to meet students learning needs and optimize outcomes. Works individually with students who may need specific assistance in reaching their academic, personal and career goals; models respect for all students and conveys confidence in every students ability to learn. Provides regular and useful feedback to students, evaluates and documents performance, and records course grades promptly. Develops and designs an assessment program that ensures application of concepts and skills learned. Stays current with innovations and trends in the discipline as they pertain to pedagogy and technology. Participates in professional development to enhance teaching talents. Attends departmental meetings and contributes to campus and district committees. Adheres to CCCs student-centered philosophy and fosters student involvement. Ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Qualifications M.D. or Registered Medical Assistant through American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) with three years of medical assisting experience; or a BSN with three years of current ambulatory experience. Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System (preferred). Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students. Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population and a commitment to open access education. Scholarship work, publications, committee work, and other relevant experience are highly considered. Two to three years of college-level teaching experience preferred. Salary and Benefits Salary: $58,000 - $65,000. Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and the applicant's education.
