Overview:

Performs or oversees the performance of engineering activities associated with the design and construction of overhead and underground utility distribution systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs field surveys for the construction of utility infrastructure.
  • Performs design activities associated with the layout of utility systems for utility and transportation projects.
  • Creates layout drawings for utility design projects.
  • Utilizes most current and up to date standards and specifications for the industry we are working in to quantify material and estimate material and labor costs.
  • Willing to work in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Collaborates to resolve problems, respond to customer inquiries, and manage projects.
  • Assesses risk management and cost optimization to align with project/scope of work specifications.
  • Fosters a safe, productive job-site environment and quality work products; encourages an attitude of safety and quality in others; redirects those who may attempt to do something in an unsafe way; demonstrates a concern for everyone's safety.
  • Good writing skills to be able to effectively present information to individuals and groups as well as prepares reports and presentations.
  • Ability to ensure the work product is quality, timely and efficient.
  • High ethical standards to produce quality products that meet company standards and expectations by complying with all applicable legal, safety, and municipal requirements; serves as an ambassador in the community for Utilitra.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational opportunities, reading professional publications, networking, and participating in professional associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Cross-train in all facets of the Engineering Division, preparing to fill in for anyone absent and grow in responsibility and scope over time.
The person in this role will uphold the culture of Utilitra, including relationship building with customers as well as general behavior on Utilitra or client premises or at Utilitra sponsored events.

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited school in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, GIS or related field.
  • Experience in the utility industry preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of electrical, civil, mechanical, gas, or other engineering design principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, CAD, and/or Microstation a plus.
  • General knowledge of drafting software a plus.
  • Must have current drivers license.

Physical Requirements:
