General Summary:

Our Lady’s Inn is seeking an energetic financial leader to serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO serves as a member of the executive leadership team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The CFO will oversee a small staff and has responsibility for the financial management systems, policies, and procedures supporting general ledger accounting, internal accounting controls, payroll, departmental reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation. The CFO will work in close partnership with the members of the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general ledger and reporting ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly reconciliations and make associated journal entries with the support of the Accounting & Payroll Specialist and Finance Administrator.
  • Track and record grant income, outstanding grant receivable amounts, and restricted gifts; monthly reconciliation with data from the Grants Administrator.
  • Maintain the petty cash and gift cards for the Administrative office and prepare a monthly reconciliation.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitor and improve internal accounting controls.
  • Prepare required reports and project budgets for grants and contracts.
  • Plan and coordinate Form 990 preparation with external accountants including producing supporting documentation.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and in collaboration with the other executive staff, develop the annual operating budget.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual financial audit including producing work papers and supporting documentation and serve as liaison with external auditors.
  • Supervision of staff with functional responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant tracking, donation entry into donor database, and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts.
  • Support the Accounting & Payroll Specialist with payroll approval, reporting, and processing and serve as backup for payroll processing when necessary.
  • Analysis and management of cash flow and optimizing the use of debt when appropriate.
  • Review and report on the investment and endowment accounts, and execute trades as directed by the Investment Committee.
  • Management and analysis of the Endowment spending policy.

Requirements

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred. Experience in a senior financial role at a not-for-profit or small business, and/or public accounting; experience in budgeting, payroll, use of QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Ten years’ of management and supervisory experience are required. Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills with attention to detail; effective communicator, manager, and team player.
