System Administrator Dahlgren, VA and San Diego, CA (On-Site/Office) Active Secret Clearance Orchard is supporting a growing Federal contract with proven capabilities in cybersecurity. We are seeking a skilled Systems Security Engineer to be proposed for a new project supporting the Navy. This role will be based out of Dahlgren, VA and will be responsible for administering and supporting daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstations, file servers, and web servers. If selected, you will be asked to sign a letter of intent to join the team upon program award. As the Systems Administrator you will: Handle installation of hardware, software, systems upgrades, network accounts, network security, and web page design, interface and updates, and local system design documentation. Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services. Train staff on software applicable to position, assist customers with information technology, monitor system configuration (hardware and software), and provide instruction on computers and applications. Provide computer and network operation and maintenance, hardware installations, software installations, reconfigurations, diagnostic testing, systems analysis, troubleshooting, and repair of specified IT networking resources. Install, configure, test, operate, maintain, and manage network hardware (e.g., switches, routers, cables, and protective distribution systems (PDS)), software, and operating systems that permit sharing of information across full spectrum of transmissions using all media. Implement and operate network services and systems to include hardware and virtual environments. Provide system and network administration support, including installation, operations, maintenance, disaster recovery, and administration of standalone workstations/server systems, networked workstations/server systems, and LANs. Oversee installation, implementation, and support of system components. Diagnose and repair faulty system hardware. Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices. Advise senior management on all risk levels and security posture. Ensure cyber security inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated for network environment. Qualifications: Four (4) years of system management experience. Bachelor's level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems desired but not required. Requires IAT Level II certification Must maintain a Secret clearance / T3 investigation and be a U.S. citizen. Required Network Infrastructure Expertise: Computer networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies Local Area Network/Wide Area Network architecture and pathways Bandwidth management principles and techniques Network traffic flow (TCP/IP and OSI model) Performance tuning tools and techniques Remote access technologies Virtual Private Network (VPN) security Network protocols (TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), directoryservices) Common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup) File system implementations (e.g., New Technology File System (NTFS), File Allocation Table (FAT), Extended File System (EXT)) Virtualization technologies and virtual machine management Required Security Expertise: IT security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones (DMZs), encryption) Network security architecture concepts (topology, protocols, defense-in-depth) Cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities National and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies Organizational IT user security policies (e.g., account management, access control) Data security standards (PII, PCI, PHI) System administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques Software-based computer protection tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, antispyware) Knowledge of transmission records (Bluetooth, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Infrared (IR) transmission, WiFi, etc.) and jamming techniques Required System Administration Expertise: Server and client operating systems Systems administration concepts and best practices Enterprise IT architecture System/server diagnostic tools and fault identification Operating system command line/prompt (e.g., ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat) System maintenance procedures (cleaning, disk checks, reboots, backups) Required Cloud Computing Expertise: Cloud computing service models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) Cloud computing deployment models (private, public, hybrid) Cloud security strategy and architecture Migrating workloads between cloud service models
