Summary

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the financial health of the hotel by managing financial transactions, implementing sound accounting practices, and adhering to relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Provide management with timely and accurate financial information for decision-making purposes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing explanations and recommendations as needed.
General Accounting:
Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and comply with accounting principles.
Internal Controls:
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify any discrepancies or irregularities.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities during audits.
Cash Management:
Manage the hotel's cash flow and treasury functions.
Monitor banking activities and reconcile bank statements regularly.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Provide insights into financial performance trends and areas for improvement.
Staff Supervision:
Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance on accounting principles and professional development.
Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate training as needed.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments to ensure cross-functional alignment on financial goals and objectives.
Communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
Ad Hoc Projects:
Participate in special projects and initiatives as directed by senior management.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as a senior-level accountant in the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
Proficient in financial software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
