Quality Engineer I

SUMMARYThe Quality Engineer I (QE) helps develop and lead initiatives to improve internal and external quality assurance for the supported product lines of the plant. The QE leads and promotes kaizen activities to help achieve quality, delivery, cost and productivity goals. Maintains process improvement and process control and monitors projects. The QE also maintains the Quality Management System documentation, processes, and procedures. They will help develop workmanship specifications and in cell production controls to prevent and reduce defects. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include but are not limited to:Develop, lead and implement quality improvement action plans, procedures and processes necessary to achieve and maintain targeted quality performance goalsMaintain a high level of technical knowledge in the areas of quality and lean manufacturing to maximize productivity, quality, and cost efficiencyInitiate and monitor corrective and preventative actionsEnforce quality standardsProvide project leadership for major quality initiativesCMM Programming (PCDMIS)Assists Quality & Safety Manager with ad-hoc Safety compliance items.Maintains and edits Quality Management System processes, documentation, policies, and standard of work.Serves as back up for quality inspection, calibration, and safety.Lead and drive efforts to transition temporary corrective actions to permanent corrective and preventative actionsUse analytical techniques and tools to study production data, identify trends and define innovative solutions to challenging problemsSupport part and process qualification initiatives for supported product linesPerforms other duties as assigned.Critical Competencies Analytical problem solver uses technical engineering and quantitative methods to understand problems, design experimental programs, collect and analyze data, and derive practical recommendations and solutions.Strong understanding of statistical methods and tools for problem solving.Ability to work with manufacturing to develop product Process Flows, PFMEAs, Control Plans and PPAPs.Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using independent judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.Thorough understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipmentUnderstanding of quality concepts in a Lean Manufacturing Environment.Knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite.High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials.Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Ability to organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent education and work experience.Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field, manufacturing environment, or other relevant work experience preferred.Experience with ISO9001 quality system is required, AS9100 is preferred.Experience with CAD, FEA, and Database systems is preferred.SAP experience highly preferred.Willingness to learn, share ideas and grow professionally.Physical Demand and Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
