Overview: The Research Engineer is responsible for application of engineering principles to research and develop various medical devices, based on client needs.

These responsibilities include completing project deliverables and tasks to support the evaluation of medical devices including conducting MRI safety evaluations of electrically active and passive medical devices.

MRI safety evaluations include computational modeling and simulation and physical testing on the bench-top, in the laboratory and in the MRI suite.

Responsibilities: *Previous industrial experience (outside of academia) is highly desirable. This position

requires a technically sound engineer capable of driving a project to completion with minimal supervision. A qualified candidate should be able to perform independent research utilizing available tools and resources and communicate well with colleagues and customers.

Other activities may include standard committee involvement, marketing and sales of our services, engineering design, and development of advanced computer simulation capabilities. Understand client expectations while driving toward scientific excellence. Interact with management, technical leadership and clients to plan, complete, analyze and report results of experiments, tests, prototype development, literature reviews, etc. Assure that project deliverables and tasks are technically excellent and completed in a timely fashion. Document deliverables. Assure that appropriate documentation is kept detailing project history (reports, laboratory notebooks, invention disclosures, scientific literature, meeting notes, deliverables, etc.). Maintain and develop the technical capabilities necessary to provide technical solutions to clients. Understand the intellectual property process and how it is established, harvested, characterized, and protected.

Qualifications: Technical skills and knowledge: M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or Biomedical Engineering or comparable background. Innovative: Proven ability to innovate in the development of novel concepts and creating solutions to technical problems with an eye towards providing practical solutions in a timely manner. Task Oriented: Demonstrated knowledge and ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate the completion of deliverables and tasks. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate and constructively collaborate with colleagues. Professionalism: The ability to remain professional and positive in all personal interactions, and provide an example of good work ethic, a willingness to help, and personal discipline in achieving goals. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
