Job Title: Buyer/Planner Location: Madison, WI, US, 53711

Job Description: **Overall Responsibilities:** Timely procurement and planning to support the master production schedule and other site/departmental initiatives.

**Specific duties include:**

* Creating, issuing and managing inventory POs to suppliers through an ERP/MRP system, taking into consideration master production schedule, cost saving targets and inventory model, including expediting as needed, maintaining PO due dates in the ERP system and resolving any PO issues for on-time delivery.

* Placing non-inventory POs and/or orders for the site.

* Implementing shortage report, monitoring and communicating any part shortages and estimated time of arrival to production.

* Managing Return Material Authorization (RMA) process with vendors, including initial requests, coordinating part shipments, issuing POs as needed and monitoring timely return receipt.

* Timely execution of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), including supporting new supplier set up, planning for new part introduction and disposition of existing inventory.

* Reconciling monthly purchases and month-end reporting.

* Working closely with Finance, Inventory Control, Production, Engineer- ing and Quality related to vendor or inventory control resolution.

* Supporting yearly cost saving initiatives with vendors.Building vendor relationships to support the most efficient supply chain strategies.

* Other duties as assigned.

**Education and Experience:**

* Bachelor degree with minimum of 5 years of experience in supplychain, buying/planning and/or inventory/logistics management

is preferred.

* APICS certification preferred.

**Required skills and experience incl**ude:

* Experience purchasing, planning and inventory control in a manufacturing environment using a ERP/MRP system is preferred.

* Must understand general business practices and procedures.

* Proven ability to multi-task in a changing environment, ability to make judgments such as resetting priorities and meeting deadlines is essential.

* Strong written, verbal, and oral communication.

* Must take initiative and be a self-starter.

* Excellent time management and organizational skills.Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

* Strong computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft products.

* Strong work ethic and team player.

* Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and specifications preferred.

* Experience and or knowledge of Lean Principles preferred.

* General office work environment.
