This role requires experience in emergency medicine as well as inpatient care, allowing for seamless transitions and continuity of care. This is a great opportunity for someone who has practiced both EM and hospital medicine. The HM portion mainly consists of admissions, discharges, and rounding on patients.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification or eligibility in either emergency medicine (EM), internal medicine (IM) or family medicine (FM)
  • Valid state medical license (Kentucky) or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience in both emergency medicine and hospital medicine is preferred but may not be required for all positions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Availability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Emergency Medicine:

  • Provide timely and high-quality medical care to patients in the emergency department
  • Department is low acuity and sees around 1 patient per hour
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with acute injuries or illnesses in an efficient manner
  • Conduct thorough evaluations, perform physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate their transfer, if necessary

Hospital Medicine:

  • Round on patients
  • Admissions
  • Discharges
  • Coordinate and communicate with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in patient care
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters and progress in medical records
