SUMMARY

We are seeking an Intermediate Game Programmer who works with an integration team that ports casino style games from one or more game manufacturers and/or third party studios on the HHR (Historical Horse Racing) system. This position integrates HHR specific communication interfaces and game characteristics onto the HHR system. The Intermediate Game Programmer role works closely with Artists, Sound Engineers and other Programmers on design elements. This role also establishes and maintains code quality along with establishing effective development pipelines to integrate assets.

BASE WORK LOCATION - Position can be based in the Hunt Valley, MD office location. Position classification is Remote Work.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Reviews operating systems and software frequently and makes any adjustments necessary to run effectively and efficiently
  • Writes code and implements game assets, math structures and game mechanics
  • Assists in creation of and uses computer-assisted software engineering tools to automate some coding
  • Performs math simulations, game additions and fine tuning to game code as necessary
  • Uses best judgment on code structures and adapts to new technology sources to better produce game products
  • Collaborates with different stakeholders within the Studio in the creation of games, as necessary
  • Designs, builds and maintains efficient, reusable, and reliable code
  • Helps define the frameworks used for building, testing and deploying software
  • Works with cross-functional teams to assist with integration
  • Partners closely with Design and Product to craft great product experiences
  • Participates in peer code reviews an Agile development activities
  • Works closely with QA to ensure quality of the product
  • Participate in agile development, continue deployment and integration elegant design and team work
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of experience with Unity game engine or equivalent background
  • 2-3 years of experience with C# programming
  • Understanding of the game development lifecycle
  • Understanding of Git
  • Understanding of object-oriented and functional design patterns
  • Good debugging and problem solving both individually and in a team
  • Excellent communication, and interaction skills; collaborating in a team environment
  • Passion for learning new technologies and mentoring others on those technologies
  • Preferred Experience and/or Education: Experience working with C#, gRPC/Protobuf, Azure Devops, .NET 6, .NET Framework, Unity
