POSITION: Senior Financial Analyst
REPORTS TO: Chief Accounting Officer
REPORTS TO THIS POSITION: None
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
ROLE SUMMARY:
Provide advanced accounting and technological knowledge in support of various functions within Corporate Finance.
SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS {Duties/Responsibilities):
- Treasury-related responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor liquidity
- Execute transactions to support bank's liquidity position within approved guidelines
- Develop and maintain relationships with counterparty bank officials in support of company's liquidity management program
- Coordinate information needed by Chief Financial Officer and Funds Management Committee to manage liquidity and evaluate current and future interest rate positions
- Working with external vendors, maintain models to project net interest income including periodic stress testing of key model assumptions
- Manage development of annual budget and monitor actual performance against budget
- Manage investment accounting function, including purchase and sale transactions and compliance with collateral requirements for public fund customers and any related reporting requirements
- Accounting and financial reporting responsibilities:
- Facilitate development of data to support quarterly regulatory reporting function
- Assist with accounting for complex or non-routine transactions
- Perform the calculation and accounting for the allowance for credit losses, as well as accounting for acquired loans
- Coordinate development of and maintenance of complex disclosure items, including loans, allowance, and derivative disclosures
- With respect to new accounting guidance, coordinate research, policy development and process implementation
- Tax responsibilities:
- Familiarity with monthly income tax provision
- Coordinate information requests received from preparer related to income tax returns
- Coordinate completion of year-end tax provision
- Other responsibilities:
- Manage liquidity monitoring, investments and monthly accounting for Southern Bank Foundation
- Coordinate department's vendor review process and assist vendor management with financial reviews of the company's critical vendors
- Prepare financial statements and coordinate audit of those financial statements for the company's various benefit plans
- Primary contact for external financial audits and regulatory examinations, as well as responsible for coordinating the effort related to gathering requested documents for such audits and exams.
- Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Expert accounting knowledge
- Advanced computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook
- General regulatory knowledge
- Strong attention to detai
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to respect confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to maintain good customer and staff relations
- Undergraduate/graduate degree in accounting or finance.
- Certified Public Accountant or eligible to sit for CPA exam with plans to seek certification preferred.
- Prior relevant work experience in public accounting or related industry posiiton.
- Management experience preferred.
