Job Description

Nemours is seeking a Speech Pathologist (Full-Time), to join our team in Milford, Delaware.

This is a great opportunity to grow your career and join a dynamic team in our new outpatient multi-disciplinary clinic shared with Nemours Specialty and Primary Care. The Speech Therapist provides evaluation and treatment for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and ranging in age from birth to 18. We are also an early intervention partner with Birth to Three program, providing clinic-based services.

Provides speech and feeding therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.

Maintains core competencies and any additional competencies determined to be necessary by the management team to ensure patient care needs are met.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competency in pediatric Speech Therapy in the care of patients aged birth to 18.
  • Able to provide speech therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
  • Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
  • Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional speech therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
  • Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
Job Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or its equivalent from an ASHA-accredited university required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required.
  • State of Delaware Speech Pathologist License required upon hire.
  • Must submit State of Maryland Speech Pathologist License or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment. (Dual licensure required - DE and MD).
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in-process with goal of achieving CCC-SLP within 10-12 months required.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
  • Member of professional specialty organizations (ASHA, State Speech and Hearing Assoc) preferred.

About the Team

At Nemours, we've developed a large, expansive network of rehabilitation professionals (including physical, occupational and speech therapists, audiologists and rehabilitation engineers) who work to help children and teens move through all phases of recovery - from acute injury and developmental needs to wellness programming.
