Overview

Location: Westmont, Travel as needed.

Hours: Full-Time. 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday 11:30am-8:00pm, one weekend per month from 7:30am-4:00pm.

Performs a variety of complex diagnostic MRI procedures, with the primary responsibility of completing diagnostic studies from inception to completion under the direction of the radiologist. This would include, but not limited to: performing routine MRIs and MRAs, taking accurate verbal patient histories and starting I.V.s, to administer IV contrast. Maintain a positive imaging environment for our patients and act as a patient liaison to the radiologist.

Responsibilities

  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas
  • Ensures proper MRI safety standards are met
  • Ensures that all ferromagnetic materials are located outside of scan room
  • Able to explain correct emergency shutdown procedures
  • Able to properly demonstrate fire and safety evacuations
  • Patient transfer/transport equipment is checked to ensure compliance with safe operational standards
  • Operates required equipment necessary to produce scans using established guidelines and MRI protocols
  • Completes necessary protocolling tasks
  • Performs ordered examinations according to written MRI protocols
  • Properly identifies (three unique identifiers).
  • Introduction to patient is performed using name and role title.
  • Procedure is explained in laymen's terms using educational/informational aids (books,pamphlets, interpreter, etc.) when necessary.
  • Time is allowed for patient feedback and questions, ensuring all questions are addressed prior to exam start.
  • Completion of MRI screening forms is verified and information provided is validated.
  • Starts IV access according to standard procedure and injects media under the direction of a physician.
  • Appropriate IV site is selected according to exam protocol.
  • Proper catheter or needle is selected and venipuncture is introduced following established standard precaution guidelines
  • Correct IV contrast is selected and correct amount for administration is prepared according to established protocols
  • Appropriate injection parameters are selected and injection is monitored according to established guidelines.
  • Injection amount, IV location and flow rate is recorded on correct documents and appropriate
  • QA documentation (QR reports) is generated when infiltration or reaction occurs.
  • Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established MRI protocols to achieve the highest quality image.
Qualifications

The Experiences You Bring:
  • Graduate of an accredited education program in MRI required.
  • ARRT Registered Technologist, RT(MR) or ARMRIT Certified Technologist required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support, AED Adult & Pediatric CPR required.
  • Minimum of one year MRI imaging experience
  • Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)
  • Repetitive motion: computer keyboard.
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs.
  • Manipulate MRI coils/table and accessory equipment
  • Reach equipment at heights greater than 6 feet
  • Assist in moving patient from stretcher, wheelchair, or bed to and from MRI table
  • Adequate eyesight to: Observe the patient's condition, Read MRI computer screen/imaging equipment Evaluate MRI images for appropriate image quality
  • Sufficient hearing to: Respond to patient's verbal inquiries
  • Communicate with other personnel involved in the care of the patient
  • Initiate timely response to audible alarms and signals
  • Ability to perform multi tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain self composure and a positive attitude under stress
