Job SummaryU.S. Investment Banking Associates are directly involved in all aspects of transaction life cycle including the design, origination, structuring and execution across mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, leveraged finance and other global products and services for existing and prospective Mizuho clients. An Associate is expected to understand the implications, identify key industry and product trends and provide input on pitch and deal materials to enhance the ultimate deliverable to our clients.Associates are assigned to a variety of projects and are given a broad range of responsibilities, some of which include:Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysisDraft and prepare pitch books with detailed industry materials for multiple Financial Institution sectors across Asset Management / Alternatives, Specialty Finance, FinTech, Insurance, Business Development Companies, etc.Analyze and model a broad range of corporate finance alternatives and conduct due diligence for client transactions including M&A, strategic alternatives, capital structure development, acquisition finance and syndicated loan and capital market financingLead execution of live transactions including preparation of detailed memoranda and presentations and analyzing the key attributes of client companiesFinancial modeling, valuation, comparable & relative value analyses and market-specific analysisFacilitate and coordinate product group idea generation and solutions development across a broad platform of global capabilitiesDraft client pitches and marketing materials including M&A, public/private debt & equity capital markets, syndicated bank financing, and other internal documentation by coordinating internal and external resourcesAssist in financing structuring, underwriting transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence and executionAssist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationshipsDevelop and train junior analyst team membersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics and a minimum of 3 year investment banking, corporate finance, and capital markets experience with a top tier global bank OR an MBA concentrating on Finance or EconomicsStrong interest and understanding of the Financial Institutions industry; experience with banking transaction and M&A related to the Financial Institutions industry is a huge plusKnowledge of corporate finance, securities, financial markets and risk & pricing analysisAptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutionsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyMaturity and good judgement in handling confidential and sensitive informationProactive with an ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlinesStrong written and oral communication skillsDemonstration of creativity and intellectual curiosityStrong attention to detail with accountability of quality work deliverablesAbility to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environmentSeries 7, 63 and 79The expected base salary ranges from $175K - $225k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
