Terms and Conditions apply**The ED Patient Access Rep registers patients in the Emergency Department by securing appropriate patient and insurance information; ensuring that registration data is correct and accurate; validating insurance eligibility and entering information into appropriate systems.The ED Patient Access Rep provides quality customer services to patient of all ages, their families, visitors, medical staff, clinicians and co-workers ensuring that everyone is treated courteously, quickly and with respect.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/ALicensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/AExperience REQUIRED: N/AExperience PREFERRED: Previous work experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminologyExperience with medical insurance, HMO, managed careExperience with appointment scheduling/registrationEducation/training REQUIRED: (Note: work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval.Work experience must be specific to role) High School Diploma or equivalentEducation/training PREFERRED: Post high school education in healthcare or business related courseworkIndependent action(s) required: Ability to perform daily activities with minimal supervision.Functions in a self-directed manner in the accomplishment of routine activities.Issues that involve violation of VCUHS policies and procedures, involve conflicts of a sensitive nature or that would be considered unusual in nature are to be brought to the attention of the immediate supervisor immediately.
