Alfred Westwood Village | PT Shift Lead Location: Alfred Westwood Village Los Angeles, CA Level: Experienced Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $18.62 $19.25 Hourly (includes tips: $22.62 $26.62 per hour approx.) FLSA Status: Non?exempt Job Summary Part?Time Shift Lead at Alfreds Caf on Melrose Place. Reports to the Caf Manager and is responsible for leading 3?shift staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining operational standards, and supporting inventory and safety compliance. Responsibilities Uphold service standards and lead by example. Provide effective leadership during shifts, ensuring consistent excellence in caf operations. Deliver exceptional customer service, serving as a role model for hospitality. Manage customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally, adhering to Alfred Hospitality standards. Possess deep knowledge of caf offerings and ensure staff do as well. Foster a team?oriented environment by recognizing employee accomplishments. Assist with new employee training and provide detailed reports to management. Develop baristas coffee/tea knowledge (flavors, blends, origins). Build rapport with employees through understanding their motivations, needs, and concerns. Assist management in assessing staffing needs (sending staff home/calling for reinforcements). Delegate duties, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion. Enforce disciplinary measures per the Disciplinary Flowchart. Maintain a supportive and accessible work environment for employees and guests. Demonstrate excellent and consistent attendance and punctuality. Anticipate customer and caf needs by observing the environment and customer cues. Optimize operational workflow through staff delegation. Support inventory management and order placement. Ensure proper staff timekeeping (clocking in/out, breaks). Manage cash drawer and tip procedures for opening/closing shifts. Operate the POS register system for transactions. Oversee food and beverage preparation adherence to Alfred standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked caf environment. Conduct daily refrigerator temperature checks to comply with company and health standards. Enforce proper safety and sanitation procedures. Assist with receiving and handling product deliveries. Complete AM/PM Daily Caf Log and utilize communication channels (Slack, email). Document employee/customer injuries and inform management via Incident Reports. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Companys employee handbook. Perform any other tasks assigned to meet company goals. Qualifications Previous experience in a caf or restaurant setting is preferred, but not required. A passion for working with the public in a customer?facing capacity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a team environment and under pressure. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. All employees must maintain a minimum of 3 shifts per week. Full?time employees must maintain an average of 30 hours per week to maintain full?time status. Physical Requirements Able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance. Move quickly and efficiently from one area of the caf to another. Ability to hear and communicate effectively in English. Good vision, including the ability to see details at close range. Flexibility to bend and squat as necessary to perform cleaning and stocking tasks. Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast?paced environment. Capable of operating a cash register or tablet device to enter customer orders accurately and efficiently.
