Residential energy products are a critical component of this mission enabling customers to generate, store, and consume sustainable energy to power their lives. Energy at Tesla is a rapidly growing part of the overall business with hardware products like Powerwall, Solar Roof, and Wall Connector, as well as software products such as Tesla Electric and Virtual Power Plants, all providing a seamless clean energy experience for customers. We are seeking someone who is hardworking and passionate about solving the climate problem. In this role youll be expected to leverage your thorough electrical, mechanical, and home energy market understanding to guide our global solar hardware roadmap. This role requires collaboration internally across engineering and business operations, as well as externally with partners and end customers, to ensure the successful development and sustained improvement of our products. What You'll Do Be the voice of the customer, installer, support agent throughout product development and ensure that our product roadmap is delivering maximum user value Write product requirements from first principles to guide engineering development and ensure customer delight, simplicity, and market capture Work with engineering through technical design decisions and tradeoffs, ensuring the customer and installer requirements are met Conduct fleet, market, and competitor analysis, as well as end user interviews, to foster data driven, customer centric product decision making Define key success metrics for features and establish analytics to track adoption and surface issues Create effective and engaging product content such as technical white papers, sales materials and web content, educating our different customer types on product value propositions, product functionality, reliability and competitive edge Communicate clearly to senior leadership on key timeline risks and complex product tradeoffs, enabling teams to make the right decisions quickly What You'll Bring Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience Strong knowledge of global energy markets and experience working directly with engineering, sales, and business development teams Direct experience with solar, energy storage, EV charging, electrical concepts, and home construction Experience and comfort working with large datasets and ability to present complex problems and solutions simply and clearly to an executive audience drive decision making A relentless drive to make things happen, without accepting the status quo Ability to operate independently, bringing solutions and prioritization to complex problems Strong attention to detail and ability to manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment Can work in office in Palo Alto Benefits Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $108,000 - $264,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
