Description

The Staff Accountant performs various accounting, bookkeeping, and financial duties, including journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, account reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Evaluates accounting systems and processes for their effectiveness, recommending accounting best practices. Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant assists in the development, implementation, and revision of
department policies and procedures

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
•CPA or MBA preferred
•Minimum two years' experience in accounts payable, preferably in healthcare, physician owned practice, or ASC setting
•Minimum two years' experience working with accounting software systems, preferably Great Plains Dynamics
•Experience using an electronic medical records system
•Working knowledge of Windows, computer proficiency using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and demands
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
•Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, providers, and patients
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Prepare accurate monthly general and standard journal entries, financial statements, and comparative reports
•Maintain general ledger
•Ensure all financial transactions within the company are accounted for and follow legal standards
•Reconcile bank statements
•Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
•Maintains, modifies, and updates data in the general ledger and financial reporting software
•Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
•Processes the financial transactions for the Ambulatory Surgical Center
•Assists with the facilitation of retirement plan audits and financial statement compilation
•Assists with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department
•Participates in ad hoc projects when asked

Other:
•Follows all applicable department and practice policies and procedures
•Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice
•Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job function
•Performs other duties as required and assigned by the Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
•Attends all regular meetings
