Position Summary

Housekeepers and Laundry Aides are skilled in a wide range of functions that help maintain and contribute to the appearance and cleanliness of the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain all floor surfaces, vinyl floor covering, carpeting, ceramic and quarry tile, and concrete in the facility.

Must be knowledgeable of written manufacturers instructions and practices proper methods of:

    1. Stripping, applying, scrubbing, and generally maintaining floor finish
    2. Dust mopping
    3. Wet/dry vacuuming
    4. Wet mopping
    5. Buffing
    6. Carpet cleaning
Maintain proper operation, cleaning, storage, and adjustment of floor care equipment. Report all malfunctions and breakdowns in equipment to the maintenance division of the environmental services department through a written "maintenance work request."

Interact with residents in a cheerful/positive manner and shall be respectful of resident's personal belongings.

Handle problems with difficult or disturbed residents, family or sponsor/surrogate.

Teamwork and participation: maintain an effective relationship with all departments and professional staff; and participates on facility committees as assigned.

Reporting and response:
    1. Report verbally or in writing unusual resident behavior to supervisory personnel or a representative of the nursing department.
    2. Report verbally or in writing concerns expressed by family members, visitors, or other persons visiting the facility to supervisory personnel or a representative of the nursing department.


Report all equipment malfunctions/breakdowns and all other maintenance needs throughout the facility to the executive housekeeper and request a written maintenance work order.
